I’ve been wanting to start a new series of “Shows” where I cover tech topics of interest to me. Today, I’m covering using your iPod as a recording device using a free distribution of Linux for the iPod called podzilla. It’s very simple to install and use, and it will turn your normal headphone jack on your iPod into a Mic or Line-level recording input. Unfortunately, there’s no gain control, so recordings come out a bit quiet on my microphone, but you can adjust it up a bit in post-production without distortion. It’s definitely good enough for voice, not sure about music quality. Definitely worth it for an on-the-go recording solution.
John Edwards starts his videoblog answering a question from Steve Garfield’s mother-in-law. So cool! My wife and I were just talking, and although I don’t 100% agree with his politics or his stances, I’d definitely be more likely to vote for a politician that seems this with it and with the times. John Edwards, last election’s Vice Presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, is one of a couple hundred people in the world Videoblogging. That’s pretty damn with it and up on technology if you ask me.
I’m not really all that happy with this one, but the festival at least was interesting. The audio quality is poor, sorry. I need a better rig to do outside festival stuff like this.
Exciting stuff happening here at ClintSharp.com. I can finally announce to you that Akimbo will be syndicating my videoblog content. This is incredibly exciting! It’s been a pleasure working with the people there. I’m expecting a demo unit sometime in the near future, so I’ll let you know what I think about the service. Rocketboom, Steve Garfield, and Shai Coggins of Freshwave.TV were also picked up in the first round. Look for them to expand their videoblog content greatly in the next few months. Videoblogs on TV, check! What’s next?
The Pacific Northwest is beautiful. This is a drive into Seattle day before yesterday.
Six hours or so for 35 seconds of video. It was well worth it I think. I’m pretty proud of this. Let me know what you think and tell me if I should be or if it’s total crap (I’ll accept either answer, or anything in between). I’m hoping to use this when it comes time to promo clintsharp.com. Eric Rice was my inspiration for this clip. His 38 second promo video for his podcast rocks.
It had to happen. I’ve been harping on about this for a couple of days on the list, and I figured it was time to do a Vlog entry about it. Use media how it works best, and lets make sure the tools fit that. Sorry it’s so choppy, I apparantly say “you know” a whole fucking bunch, so I relentlessly cut that phrase out.
This post serves two purposes. One is to point out this video by The Political Teen from BlogNashville of Dave Winer. Dave was hosting a session called “A Reasonable Disagreement,” during which he had a disagreement that was anything but reasonable. The Video can be downloaded here. The original post is here, and if you have any comments please direct them there.
Secondly, I’m testing posting via xmlrpc to see if I can get the fix I’ve added to Wordpress to do enclosures on items posted via xmlrpc.
OK, so this is just your standard rant vlog. Why does nothing stay open late?
While we were rearranging the living room, I went looking for lunch. As usual, in our kitchen, there is no lunch-like food available. While doing this, I decided to clean out the freezer. As always, cleaning out something that hasn’t been cleaned for some time makes for good film.

So, Adam at Bullemhead put up another of his videos of him playing guitar. I love them
, and seeing as I haven’t gotten around to doing one of my own yet, I figured it was time to get busy playing on camera. So, here it is.

So today, I interviewed at Microsoft. It was a lot of fun, met some really interesting people. Don’t know the results yet, but I look forward to hearing back from them. Here’s a vlog entry I did while walking around there and driving back and forth. A text blog entry will follow with some more details.

So, I didn’t get around to coding tonight. I decided to do a vlog entry and watch The O.C. Here’s our thrilling conversation at Dinner

Computers aren’t very bright. They require meticulous instructions for them to do something that someone else, another programmer, hasn’t already told them how to do yet. Watch and see.

Watch out for those baggage screeners!

The video has absolutely nothing to do with the message, but unfortunately I’m working with castoff footage from last week until the camera comes back on the plane with my wife
. Still, I think an important message to be shared, and another friendly reminder from typhoon.org

So this is pretty much in a day in my life. I spent several days editing this trying to get it to where I liked it, and while I’m still not 100% happy with it, I decided it was best just to get it out there. Now that this is finished maybe I can move on with a couple of other ideas for stuff. I’m kinda limited this week though since my wife has the camcorder with her in Arkansas…

OK, so I think the Vlogger community should really get together and do our own iPod campaign. So, we’re putting ourselves out there, we’re starting it all up, lets see some more! (Yes, we know we’re horrible dancers, that’s sort of the point).
